Last year I think I predicted 57 wins, and they won 62. I haven't decided whether I'll make a win-total prediction for 2009-10. What I will do, though, is make a couple of observations to contrast two seasons ago with last season and then last season with next.
First, let's start in the middle with last season. Brian Scalabrine finished the season as a vital contributor. He played all seven games against the Magic in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, averaging 24 MPG, which included two games where he logged more than 30 minutes. In the 2008 NBA Finals, Vanilla Thunder didn't play one minute of one game. He wasn't even on the active roster. See where I'm headed?
