Based on the timing of the two events, the NBA Finals and NBA Draft have become almost a continuous blur for the Miami Heat.
Based on the success in the Finals, the approach in tonight's draft in many ways may prove to be a continuation of the approach that delivered the Larry O'Brien Trophy to South Florida a week ago.
Under the direction of Heat President Pat Riley these past 16 seasons, the NBA Draft had left the Heat largely with a singular goal, no matter the draft slot.
"I've worked for Coach Riley for over 15 years. I don't have to tell you what Coach Riley would like," Chet Kammerer, the Heat's vice president of player personnel, said Wednesday at AmericanAirlines Arena.
"Every year, it's the same thing: "Is there a good big?"
I don't think that has changed. If we could draft a good big, we would do that."
It may be a small-player's league.
But one legendary guru still sees the game in traditional terms.
Let's see how the C's do this offseason in adding bigs.
I would grade last summer a D- in this regard, if we define "big" as the center position, or, at the very least, a defensive presence and rebounding force at the 4.

bringing back KG is a good start
We did not have a good offseason last summer. This summer is might be different.
