Skeptics Starting to Smell the Coffee

This summer was fun, but it was hard biting our collective tongue as the naysayers and skeptics weighed in, and then kept weighing with the following tired analysis:

I.__The Big Three are good, but their best days are behind them.

___A. Garnett has way too many miles on those legs.
___B. Ray Allen is 32 and coming off double ankle surgery.
___C. Paul Pierce is selfish and also coming off an injury.

II.___Rajon Rondo is young, inexperienced, and can’t shoot.

III.__Kendrick Perkins is young, inexperienced, and injury prone.

IV.__The bench is the worst in the league.

V.___Doc Rivers blows.

Well, now the Boston Celtics are 5-0 and league observers far and wide are reconsidering their skepticism. One Confessed Skeptic wrote: “The Boston Celtics are going to dismantle the rest of the Eastern Conference."

My point isn't so much that all these pundits should have come out of the gates waving a Celtics pennant after the Garnett trade. It is perfectly reasonable for anyone to take a wait-and-see attitude before weighing in.

But that is not what they did.

Instead, they came out with guns a blazin' proclaiming to the world that the Boston Celtics AIN'T NO THANG.

This is why they deserve their comeuppance.

Criticism masquerading as objective neutrality deserves to be exposed for what it is.
