Recently Charles Barkley admitted that the 2007-08 Boston Celtics were a great team, and that he loved watching them play.
Huh?
He's come a long way since the 1980s.
Either that or he was taking some strong hallucinogens when confessing his love for Da Green.
Regardless, Barkley's anti-Celtic vehemence started early.
In his rookie season, the Celtics beat the Sixers three times in four meetings.
After barreling his way to 26 points and a career-high 21 rebounds in regular season game number four, Barkley said, "I'll stick to my original statement. I don't think they can beat us, and if you are intelligent, you saw the same thing today. They cannot beat us. They cannot beat us. The only problem we have is mental. We gave the game away. I honestly think they know they can't beat us."
Barkley's comments raised some eyebrows in the Celtics' locker room.
"I don't know how many times we have to beat them to prove it." said Danny Ainge. "We didn't even have McHale today and we still won easily. They might beat us if we started Carlisle at center and Thirdkill at the point."
