The Glen Davis Dunk

I hope you all saw Big Baby's dunk last night because I don't have a link to it.

NBA.com didn't include it in its highlights.

Nor did ESPN or Yahoo.

None of the news outlets even had a picture of it.

So what's the big deal?

A dunk by Big Baby is more than just a dunk.

It's a statement, a statement that he is entering a new phase, playing at a new level, elevating his game, if you will.

Big Baby is a nice player. But he'd be a hell of a lot scarier if he played above the rim, if he played like, oh, I don't know, Jason Maxiell, maybe.

Jason Maxiell enters games off the Pistons bench ready to do some damage, ready to Impose His Will. If you ever wonder what it means to impose your will on a basketball court, watch Jason Maxiell play.

If you haven't seen much of him yet, watch this video.

I want him on my team.

At 6'7", 260 he is a beast.

But wait, don't we have our own beast of the same size?

Big Baby isn't there yet.

In Ali-Frazier I, BBD played 11 minutes, and had no points and four rebounds.

Ok, but nothing to write home about.

When Big Baby starts playing more power ball and less finesse, we might have a Jason Maxiell on our hands.

Until then, we'll just have to curse Joe Dumars for being smart enough to add him to the Pistons roster.
