Odds & Ends

Mike Gorman appeared on Celtics Stuff Live last night, and had this to say:

1. KG may be out until after the first West Coast Trip following the All-Star game. The Celtics first game after the trip is against Cleveland on February 27th at home. Two days later they close out the month against Charlotte. It would be nice for Garnett to return by the first game in March, a 6 p.m. Sunday Night home game against Atlanta. A few days later, the Celtics face off against Detroit, also at home, and then go on another West Coast Trip.

2. "Leon Davis," the interchangeable duo of Leon Powe and Glen Davis, has far exceeded anyone's expectations this year. No doubt this is true. I've said it before and I'll say it again. These two players are playing at such a high level and making such important contributions that my earlier comparisons of the 2008 Celtics bench to the late 90s Bad Boys bench is growing more apt by the day.

3. KG is out, but he's not absent. As much as anything else, KG made his teammates believe in themselves. He instilled confidence that they could win and should win, with him or without him. He sets the expectations for the team, and the bar is high even when he's not on the court or in uniform.

4. Danny Ainge didn't build this team to win 70. He built this team to win a championship. The best chance the Celtics have to accomplish that goal is with a healthy Kevin Garnett. Thus, it would be Ok with Mike if KG rested his abs until April 1, just to be safe.
