He'll Talk a Lot and He'll Shoot a Lot

These were the words chosen by Phil "Flip" Suanders, coach of the Detroit Pistons, to summarize the expected impact Sam Cassell will have on the Boston Celtics.

Flip must be getting ready for a move to the booth.

It's a pithy sound bite, alright, but it adds little to the conversation. Sort of like the commentary provided by Chaz Barkley. I guess Flip is honing his skills in the mold of Sir Charles.

That's OK. Greg Anthony provides an effective counter to both, and he basically said Cassell very well may provide the Cs with the final piece to the championship puzzle.

We shall see.

I do have one other thought, though.

Once Theo Ratliff joins the Pistons, I hope Doc is asked for his opinion.

If so, he might consider making the following observation about Theo:

"Well, Theo looks good in practice. But he looks better in suits sitting on the sidelines. As for real games, games that count, you might want to ask the Pistons coach on Theo's first tour of duty. I don't know that he's played much since then."

If Flip is gonna play Billy Cunningham, circa 1982, then I think Doc needs to play Red, circa 1982.

No fisticups though, not yet, anyway.
