Doc Makes a Reference to the Infamous Indiana Series

I think I’ve had one chance to win a series, and it was that Indiana series (with the Celts in 2005). But with all the crap that was going on that people didn’t know about, I knew where we were at in that series.

--Doc Rivers

I wrote last fall that the players, not Doc, were to blame for the 2005 first round loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Doc seems to confirm my suspicions above.

Take a look at the personalities on the Celtics roster from that year. Mark Blount, Ricky Davis, Gary Payton, and Antoine Walker. Even the seemingly innocuous Raef Lafrentz wasn't above pissing and moaning about minutes.

Let's not forget Pierce's immaturity in that series as well. They went into self destruct mode before our eyes. Mark Blount is one of my least favorite players. He is a cancer that we were well rid of. I always felt bad sending Big Al to Minny when he disliked Blount so much. I feel better now that Blount is gone from there.
