Before the season, it was said the Celtics couldn’t possibly win big during the regular season with a second-year point guard next to Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. Sixty-six wins later, it was clear the success was just regular-season frivolity. You’re not going to go far in the playoffs with a second-year point guard. And now, as the Celts prepare to open the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers, the issue is back. At this rate, people will be wondering in two weeks whether Rajon Rondo can handle himself in a victory parade through the streets of Boston. Come on, now, he’s just a second-year point guard, right?
