Time for KG to Make Doc Look Brilliant

Phil Jackson will make adjustments.

This much we know.

Will Doc do the same?

Game 2 is the key to the series, and Doc needs to treat it as such.

Making adjustments doesn't simply mean adjusting to what the other team is doing. It means adjusting your own game plan to wrong-foot the opponent. If Phil Jackson makes preparations for game 2 based on what the Celtics did in game 1, one thought would be for the Celtics to mix things up for game 2.

Come on, Lex, you say. It's the playoffs. By now, every team knows what everyone else is going to do. There's nothing Doc can do that the L's haven't seen before.

Not so fast.

Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson have been saying for three series now that KG has to go into the paint. If it weren't for the above video, where KG actually dominates in the paint against the Lakers, I might be dissuaded by detractors who claim KG doesn't play in the paint. But there it is. KG dominating a Laker team with Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom defending him. Not too many people would argue that Gasol is a better interior defender than Bynum.

So the opportunity is there to exploit.

It's time for Doc to have KG exploit it.
