Yep....I was falling down at all the threes being dropped!!! It was incredible! It was amazing...like the Lakers didn't even show up! And really...I didn't care!!! The celebration in the last few minutes was cool....like a big family on the sidelines!!! And the crowd doing a great "Nah Nah Nah Nah...Hey Hey Hey...Goodbye!!!" Gave me chills!!!
And Lex...are you gonna post the rest of the 1986 articles!!! I really enjoyed reading those and wanted to read up on the rest of their playoff journey!
It's not that the Lakers didn't show up, what happened was this Boston at their absolute peak. Every one was playing well, and what we saw is when they do that I don't know if team past or present had a chance of beating them. It was a very good night and thank God I no longer have to hear Garnett/Sampson comparisons and other stupid things from the media!
The reason I said that the Lakers didn't show up was that lousy D they played! Not taking anything away from the Celtics...but Allen was open more often than your local Wal-Mart!!! The Lakers just looked like they wanted to be anywhere else but there. The home court was HUGE!
The Lakers had a cakewalk through the second half of the season and then in the western conference playoffs.
Once they faced a truly good team that played some nasty D, they folded. The Green were a great regular season team, but our struggles in the first two series really helped make us tough, playoff tough.
I agree...the 7 game series early on really toughened up the C's and made them focus even harder on getting the ring. At the end of the day, the C's were the better team...especially their bench...House and Posey were really big sparks! I was surprised that Cassell didn't get in, even for just a minute at the end. He must have told Doc no....because he did play a role in their title run...albeit small.
All due respect, it should be Celtics 17, Lakers 9. The LA Lakers and their fans have NO respect for the Minneapolis Lakers and it shows in the retired numbers at Staples Center. In contrast, the Celtics have always embraced its history and winning tradition. I consider the Minneapolis Lakers and LA Lakers as TWO Separate Franchises. It's as pathetic as Indianapolis fans attempting to latch on to the Baltimore Colts past.

WOW....what a game!!! The Lakers never had a prayer!!! Congrats on nabbing 17!!!
Beat LA...Beat LA...Beat LA!!!
Congrats back at ya!
It was amazing.
I never thought it would be that emotional for me. But it was something else.
My mom, who is 80, quit watching the Celtics after Bird retired. I got her back into them this year.
What a kick in the head to talk to her on the phone while watching this unfold.

Yes, I will continue the Celtics 1986 Journey. I believe I stopped after the game 2 win.
The family thing is huge. Russ, Jo Jo, Hondo. Everyone was present.

Danny did his job, and then doc and the boys did their job.
Now the burden shifts back to danny to make the roster even better for next year.
