While I was talking to my Laker Friend the other day, he told me a story that I don’t remember hearing during the Finals.
According to certain Laker fans, the Celtics intentionally left Lamar Odom wide open from the outside during the Finals, and then challenged him to shoot.
“Shoot it. Come on, dummy, shoot it!”
Once Odom would miss, the GREEN would then hurl an appropriate amount of invective in number 7’s general direction. When Odom got the ball the next time, it would start all over.
Shades of 1984-1987.
The legacy of Cornbread (clutching throat while Worthy misses free throws) and ML (calling out the purple as “the Fakers”) lives on.
