A number of Celtics fans disagree, choosing to put stock in the words of Doc Rivers, who recently said that he sees Sam more as coach than as a player. I concede that Doc's words don't support my case. Sam will move permanently to the bench, their theory goes, to make room for any free agent the Celtics acquire this winter.
