Had the Celtics lost to the Kings on Saturday night, they would have slipped to 6-6 on the road for 1981-82, and they would have slumped to a 7-5 record in their last 12 games, neither total representing that of achampionship team. They would be in danger of being considered mortal by the average team, which is not a desirable situation.
