I Think I've Figured it Out

I got a call from an old friend a couple of minutes ago, and he just couldn't stop laughing. Here was ESPN's Bill Walton, my favorite Celtic of the 1980s, talking about Kevin Garnett, my favorite Celtic of today, comparing Garnett to my favorite Celtic of all-time, Bill Russell.

"You must feel like you've died and gone to heaven," he said.

Then it dawned on me.

Maybe he was on to something. Maybe I have moved on to the next world and God has decided to reward my global peace days by creating a world where one Celtics victory leads to another and where one Celtics championship season blends into the next.

Any time God detects that I'm starting to feel a little blue, on comes Bill Walton to extol the virtues of the Green and White.

You know, I can't rule this out. Back in college I took a logic course that taught me if I can't prove I'm not dreaming, then I can't prove that I'm awake.

Since this all seems too good to be true, I'm going to conclude that it's not. Instead, I'm like Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky. I've invented my own reality. I can even figure out when it all started. My former life must have ended on draft night two summers ago, and everything since then is pure fiction.

How else do you explain a championship team that is the product of one 1986 Boston Celtic trading the best player in basketball to another 1986 Boston Celtic for a guy who's never been an All-Star and can't even play a lick of D? How else do you explain the current Boston Celtics starting one season 29-3 and then starting the next season 24-2? How do you explain the all-world skills of Paul Pierce after spending years watching him dribble with his head down?

I know a lot of people who couldn't live in a world where everything was perfect. Life is about struggles and challenges, adversity, they would insist.

Good thing I'm not one of those people.

That's some heavy stuff. So, if you are dreaming, then I must be dreaming too. Or you are in my dream or I am in yours or something like that.

just think this: how is possible in REAL world that an Italian fan of Celtics (and he start been a Greens fan in 1984 when for first time NBA game were broadcasted on tv in Italy) is writing on ur blog? :D
