They've come out with a renewed focus. Like Paul Pierce has said, they put last [season] behind them and they're really thinking about this year. And that's how they're playing. I know we did that when we had our back-to-back championships. We came out even more determined [the second season]. That's definitely the kind of look that they have when I see them play. They aren't playing like a team that has won a championship. Most teams, when they get a championship, they get a little fat. They kind of live on those laurels for a whole year. They just take it as it comes.

It's funny how history influences the way you view the present.
Because the Celtics rested on their laurels and took naps for good parts of the seasons that followed championships in the 1980s, I expected more of the same from KG and company.
But the 1980s Celtics didn't have KG.

The Lakers were very lucky to even win that back to back. In actuality the Pistons should have won 3 straight from 88-90 in my opinion.
We agree on 88.
But the Lakers experience won out over Detroit's inexperience.
