The Boston Celtics defeated the New York Knicks tonight, 124-105. The victory made the Celtics 26-2 for the season, which ties the 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers and the 1969-70 New York Knicks for best start in NBA history. The Green can break the mark by defeating Philadelphia at home on Tuesday. The win tonight also marked the Celtics 18th consecutive win, tying the club mark set in 1981-82.
My question is this:
After giving up 108 and 105 points in their last two games, are we getting any closer to playing the kind of defense we made famous?
I'm sure outscoring the opponent takes less out of you than playing tough defense, and the Knicks did score 39 points from long distance. But I'd like to think we'll need to play some D in Tinseltown.
Just my .02.

Posting 33 assists after posting 40 assists the last game tells me we've oiled up the offense pretty well.
Time to turn our attention back to D...
well, NY play a soo fast pace that even a gr8 defence will allow lots of points. but we shoot 65% and they 43% from the field: i'll take these figure for the season! :D
Yeah, the defensive field goal percentage was acceptable. When the game was closer, the Knicks were shooting over 50% from 3. Once that number fell, it was over.
I don't think Tom Thibodeau will let them forget what got them here. I think they just haven't needed to play that kind of defense against the past 2 teams. I just hope they have it ready for the Lakers. They are going to need it then.
I was thinking the same thing, like maybe our defense was slipping a little. We are still first in defensive field goal percentage, though. I like that our offense isn't as hard to watch anymore. I'm not worried, they'll start playing D again.
Christmas Day should tell us a lot...until we play cleveland...
