Reading the Tea Leaves

"I'm a player," said Cassell when asked if he considers himself more a player or coach at this point. "As a winning team, you don't fix nothing that's not broke. This is not broke. Doc understands what I can do. I've got the best of both worlds. I'm working on my game and I'm definitely - at some point this season - going to help this team out."

Something still doesn't add up here.

Sam Cassell say he's "definitely" going to play this season.

Doc Rivers regularly plays five guys off the bench at the same time, and, for the most part, they play effectively.

Sam Cassell would make six.

Jr Giddens and Bill Walker seven and eight.

One of the top five guys off the bench, Brian Scalabrine, has reclaimed his former title of sometimes valuable contributor.

Yet what the team could use is a game-changer off the bench.

See where I'm going?

It's kind of like before the KG trade. We had 18 pegs, but only 15 holes in which to store them. A couple of the pegs were square, though Doc and Danny talked about the need for round ones.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I see something on the horizon.

I see a T-R-A-D-E.
