Last year Boston won their first eight games, lost to Orlando by two, won their next three, and then lost to Cleveland in OT. The Celtics went on to win 18 of their next 19 games, the only loss coming by two points against Detroit at home.
So the good news is that the Celtics simply play good ball coming out of the chute.
The bad news is that the Celtics haven't played a difficult schedule the first two months of the last two seasons. Take a look at last year's schedule or this year's schedule. Since we're breaking all sorts of records this year, I'll focus on this year.
We've played 29 games thus far and won 27.
Anyone know how many of those games were played against teams that are currently above .500?
11.
And we lost one of those games (to Denver).
I don't want to make too much of it.
But it does support what Doc, KG, and Paul have been saying.
Streaks are more for the fans and the media. The players are focusing on getting better, which they can definitely do by playing the better teams.

i dont buy the easy schedule stuffs.
1st we had lots of back to back in november: a not soo good and focused team will not have win them (amost) all. player get tired, and playing bad team could be an excuse for not put the full effort.
2nd all the records are made in special enviroments: "easy" schedule, great team condition, some luck, etc...
good team make the best of what is given.
Yeah, 1111.
I agree with you. But 11/29 is something to keep in mind if we slide a bit.
i'm sure this team could have a shot to 70 wins if he wants. mostly depends on bench: more and more games will be left in bench hands. if they good enough (and i think they are) Cs will have a season for the ages.
also consider the Cavs factor. If they continue that good (but they have an easyer schedules talking heads said) the Greens must keep winning for keeping the home court: win a series in Cleveland should be lot more difficult than beat the fakers...
This team does have a chance to win 70.
But I'm probably more interested in the statement games:
LA in LA
Clev in Clev.
But your point about the bench is an excellent one.
It is neither as bad as we think or as good as we hope.
We could use some help.
I'm not a big mutumbo guy. But, I guess, he's better than nothing.
Who do you like today?
Boston is a +1.5 on the board I checked.
That's about exactly where I'm at with my prediction.
