We're a Different Team from Last Year

The year after KG hoisted the Minnesota Timberwolves on his back and took them to the WCFs, the team got off to a slow start. They started the year 17-17, after finishing the previous season two wins shy of 60. Garnett, who had kept mum during the first 34 games, finally spoke out.

"We're a different team. We don't have any chemistry. We aren't playing together. We're not on the same page. We're a different team."

So when I woke this morning to read that Paul Pierce had said that the Celtics aren't the same team they were last year, I got a little nervous.

This team is leaps and bounds better than the 2004-05 Minnesota Timberwolves. Starting the season 27-2 and ripping off 19 straight wins, the Celtics didn't look any different than they did last year, except for the fact that the roster wasn't identical. In fact, there was a growing chorus of pundits saying we were better than last year.

"Different" isn't the end of the world. But it might be the first step in making out the case why the green don't repeat.

It was the signing of PJ Brown last season that really put this team over the top. One or 2 signings like that could put us over the top again. Don't forget that last year they lost 3 of 4 in Jan losing twice to the Wizards and then to Charlotte. Don't panic...

According to the local NY news Marbury will be bought out soon and signed by the Celtics shortly after.
