Three teams are locked in a dog fight for the best record in the NBA. This tells me that home court advantage in the playoffs means something. It's still important. But the Celtics just lost a huge game on their home court where the referees clearly failed to give the home team any clear advantage.
But what really concerns me is that we failed to dominate the game. We dominate the game, and we aren''t having a conversation about the officials. The days of dominating the Lakers may be over. But it's unclear whether we can still win home games in convincing fashion against other elite NBA teams.
Today should help shed some light on that question. If we can't dominate good teams on our home court, then winning home court advantage is of dubious value. We should instead focus on becoming the best road team we can become.
We'll talk more about that later (aka, the relevance of the 1974 Finals).

I think we still can dominate both at home and on the road, but for some reason this team has been losing focus in some games. They go away from the team defense that has made them so tough. It may be fatigue because that defense is work. But they also go away from the ball movement and quickly getting the ball up the floor that makes them so tough to guard. Rondo starts walking the ball up and players start taking quick shots or going one on one instead of moving the ball and finding the open man. They know how to do it and can do it, but for some reason they don't do it. When they play that tough defense and when they move the ball they can dominate any team on any night.
I thought they were losing some of their edge again in streak number 2. Then Garnett got sick.
Danny needs to get busy.
But we should be ok, unless Clev gets Camby, then we might be in trouble.
