The Cavs should be favored tonight. They aren't. Vegas is giving the Cavs +1.5. I'll take the Cavs and the points. Hell, I'd give three points and take the Cavs. As you can tell, I'm not real optimistic about tonight's game.
Nor do I care much if we lose (I'll be excited, of course, if we win). The regular season has been reduced to an episode on Survivor, which is to say a contest to see what NBA team can enter the playoffs the most healthy after having played 82 games during the NBA's money-making scheme known as the regular season.
But I will be watching tonight's game to see whether Doc throws Mikki Moore at King James. Nobody guards Earl Campbell particularly well, not even KG. But James Posey did it as well as anyone. Plus Posey is taller than anyone we can throw at King James now, unless Doc gets funky and gives Mikki Moore (and maybe Brian Scalabrine when he's healthy) a crack at it.
Alas, it will mostly be Pierce guarding LeBron and vice versa. I'd rather Pierce not kill himself until he needs to (ie., the ECFs). But you know Paul. And you know Doc. Doc wants to win, and thus Paul will play major minutes.
Sigh.

I really wish Doc would keep Pierce's minutes down. It makes more sense to preserve his legs for the playoffs when the whole team is healthy. I'm curious to see how wing rotation works tonight. There's a major hole at SF behind Pierce that needs to be filled.
Yup.
Somehow I don't see Bill Walker getting throw at LeBron.
I agree that it makes most sense to try to keep Pierce's minutes down. The team that is the healthiest and most rested going into the playoffs will most likely come out on top regardless of who has HCA.
We do have a hold at SF behind Pierce. Tony was getting some minutes there but doesn't have the height needed for some SF's.
Walker will one day be a good fit for that role but because he hasn't gotten any playing time this season isn't ready for that role yet.
Scal has shown some good defense this season but then again he is no James Posey.
Mikki Moore at SF would be something worth watching.
