A Pall Over Celtic Nation

One of my long-time Celtics’ friends sent me an email lamenting the fact that the Cavs had signed Joe Smith. “If the Cavs now get home court,” my friend said, “that might be all she wrote.” The live game blog at celtics.com echoed similar sentiments. Never mind the 1974 NBA Finals, in which home court advantage was stolen by the road team on no less than five occasions, can we at least let the last five weeks of the regular season play out before we start sharpening the razor blades?

Stephon Marbury and Mikki Moore will take two to three weeks to get acclimated, and another couple of weeks before we can expect them to make a consistent impact. Don’t forget about KG, Brian Scalabrine, and Tony Allen, either. They’ll need to get worked back into game shape as well.

The good news is that Doc is at his best when the bench is long and he has multiple weapons he can pick and choose how to deploy. This will be a process, and Celtic Nation needs to be patient.

Joe Smith makes the Cavs tougher, there is no doubt about it. I don't even think the Wallace injury affects them much because I think Varejao is an upgrade at PF over Wallace.

But, I think Moore will make the Celtics better when he learns the plays and the system. I love his attitude and his work ethic and his energy. I actually feel that he fits this team better than Smith would have.

Good points, FCF

The same guy emailed me again today, complaining the moore has short arms.

Heavens.
