Havlicek without a Jump Shot

We know that Rick Pitino once compared Bruce Bowen to John Havlicek, with the only difference--according to Pitino-- being that Hondo possessed a jump shot, while Bowen did not. Since Bowen can now score from range, does that make him bound for the Hall? Probably not. We also know that the fates of JR Giddens, Bill Walker, and Bruce Bowen may somehow be connected. What I had forgotten was that "Hondo Sans the J" also wore #12 here.

How convenient if the current #12 departed to make room for a 6-8 former Celtic that more closely resembles James Posey than he does one of the greatest basketball players ever to play the game.

And you believe what Pitino says why?

I don't think Bowen ever resembled Havlicek in any way. Hondo never played dirty.

I don't want to give up Walker. I really think he can be something special if he gets a chance.

That was one thing Pitino was good at. Giving up on players before they have a chance. (See Billups, Chauncey).

Oh, I don't think that Bruce Bowen was anything like John Havlicek. In fact, I like to reference that quote because it has to be one of the most preposterous things ever said in sports history.

As for BW, I like him and Giddens. But if doc isn't gonna play either one, I don't like the idea of having guys we don't use on the roster.

But at some point we have to think about the future too and not just have a bunch of older veterans on the roster because that is all Doc will play. We need some youth to balance out the vets.
