Mark Murphy's Got the Davis Details

Glen Davis could sign a new contract with the Celtics as early as tomorrow or Monday, according to a source close to negotiations between the restricted free agent and the team. Davis agreed to a two-year contract worth approximately $6.3 million, including a starting point of approximately $3 million next season. He was here today, and may take a physical Monday before officially signing the deal. The Celtics apparently backed off their request for a third year at a team option. The length of the contract would enable Davis to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2011.

I'd like to say that it's sure gonna be boring around here once Davis and Daniels are in the fold. But I just don't see us starting camp with all those wings on the roster. Nor do I see Danny sitting by idly while Bruce Bowen signs with another team.

Danny needs to fill the back up PG spot either by trade or signing. That gives us 15 players. He needs to make a trade to open up another roster spot if he wants to get Bowen. I don't think he is done by a long shot.

I'll be curious to see about the back-up point. Not sure how much PT house would get then?
