Belkin Withdraws Offer to Buy C's

Steve Belkin has withdrawn his offer to buy the Celtics in the aftermath of stories detailing his relationship to convicted bookmakers, it was learned today. Reportedly, current Celtic owner Harry Mangurian asked Belkin to step aside, but Belkin denied that this was the case.

"Harry and I have been talking about it all day," Belkin said, "and I feel it's in the best interests of the Celtics that I withdraw. There's nothing I want more than to own the Celtics, but the Celtics are too much of a dynasty, too much of an important part of this city, for anything to detract from them."
