According to the Globe, Doc ran the following unit as his reserves in the first day of practice: Marquis Daniels, Glen Davis, Eddie House, Brian Scalabrine, and Rasheed Wallace. It's probably Coach's way of showing some respect to the veteran Scal and making Bill Walker earn his PT. I will be curious to see how minutes are allotted during the pre-season games. There is also Scal's head to think about.
BTW, who plays the 3 in that lineup?
I'm not so sure that Doc doesn't have Baby defend the opposing team's small forward.

Scal would be at the 3 as he has played small forward several times in games and didn't do all that bad. At least no worse than he plays any other position. I'd rather see Bill Walker get a chance to earn the spot though.
Doc's probably just deferring to Scal's experience in the first couple of practices.
