In the Comcast interview below, Ray Allen is asked what has impressed him most about Rasheed Wallace. Almost without hesitation, Jesus responds "Sheed's not a big stat guy." That's interesting, I think to myself. Let's take a look. Sure enough, Jesus is right. Sheed never averaged more than 15.1 points in his tenure with Detroit, where he was considered the final and crucial piece to the championship puzzle. Career-wise, Sheed only once averaged as many as 20 PPGs, and that was in a partial season with Atlanta. Nor has he ever averaged as many as 10 rebounds per game, or even 9 for that matter.
Ok, so maybe I do see some parallels with Bill Walton, and perhaps Bill Russell, too. Yes, both Walton and Russell posted some gargantuan single-season and single-game rebounding numbers, especially #6. But dig this, and you start to see what I mean.
