The Celtics brought in Rasheed Wallace, and, to some, the idea of having him on the floor with Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Rajon Rondo was more intriguing than a starting five with Kendrick Perkins, even though the Celtics won a championship with Perkins posted next to Garnett.
If he were younger, more vulnerable, and his spot in the lineup was less secure, Perkins acknowledged, seeing the team bring in a player like Wallace might have bothered him.
“If it was three years ago,’’ Perkins said, “I might have felt threatened.’’
Three years ago, he wasn’t an NBA champion. Three years ago, he didn’t know how it felt to win 60 games in a season. Three years ago, he didn’t know what it felt like to be in a locker room full of veterans.

Parish and Walton went through the same thing, only Parish did feel threatened at first. Walton approached the Cheif, told him he didn't come here to steal his job, but to win a championship. That was that and the rest was history.
