At one point in time, particularly in 2005 and 2006, Scalabrine was booed whenever he entered a game . . . at home. After signing a 5-year, $15m contract, Boston fans must have expected more out of the red-head than he could give. I believe there was even a Scalabrine jeer that consisted of chanting his name as only Bostonians can chant a name.
But during last night's game against the Raptors, Donny Marshall said he didn't approve of the Scalabrine chant that is now frequently heard at home games. Is it the same chant from 2005 and 2006? I don't think so. For starters, the chant is done to the same rhythm as "Let's Go Celtics," clap clap ..clap,clap,clap. That chant certainly isn't a jeer. Second, when Scalabrine disappoints, the chant isn't invoked to make him feel bad.
I think it's a genuine cheer.
Anyone disagree?

I hope it is genuine. Like you said, they don't do it when he messes up. By now, most real Celtics fans realize what Scal brings to the team and they are good things.
