Does Rondo Understand He's a Short, Skinny Guy?

I’ve got a ring, and you’re never gonna win one.

That's what Rajon Rondo reportedly said to Chris Paul during their verbal tit-for-tat on Sunday. Ray Allen was reportedly so embarrassed that he walked into the Hornets' locker room and apologized.

I've said before that I'm no fan of such boastful and brash in-your-face behavior. Ali was Ali, Namath was Namath, and Bird was Bird. But Rajon Rondo? I mean, does he understand that he's a short, skinny guy playing in a league of giants? I'm not worried about Chris Paul retaliating. But Chris Paul has teammates, and many of those guys are bigger than Rondo, much bigger. And what about the giants who play on other teams and take exception to Rondo's taunting of Paul?

Not smart, Rajon. In fact, pretty f'n stupid.

i dont know what happened and probably just Rondo and Paul know, but i dont ever give much credits to what is reported by writers...

anyway i still just think that Rajon simply was trying to get under the skin of his opponent and maybe he go too far in this. it happens, we dont need to give too much important to it.
i'm not a fan of trash talking but this's the NBA, not an amateur league, so it could be messy from time to time: we u try to get a psycological advantage on the other sometime u cross the line...

Get under someone's skin. Perhaps during the game. And then what about the post-game taunting?

The best I can hope for is that the trash talk gets rondo fired up to play better. I would suspect it might get paul fired up too. so whatever.

This is being blown way out of proportion in my opinion, and a reflection of the today's media. It's all about getting eyeballs on your site, and nothing accomplishes this like beef between players.

Sure, Rondo is not Bird or Jordan, who have no doubt said much worse to opponents, but why do people assume Chris Paul gave Rondo any respect?

No matter what people want to say, Rondo is not just lucky to be play on a stacked team. To anyone who thinks that, go back and watch game 6 of the 08 finals.

Personally, I like that Rondo is a bit of asshole. Reminds me of another asshole who used to play for the green in the 80s and is now our GM!

I agree on game 6. I posted it yesterday. But I am concerned that he's making himself a target when he goes to the hoop, which is all game like every game.

I'm sure most of NBA players talk and taunt like this, so why pick out Rondo for it. Larry Bird, your example, actually took part in boosting himself quite often. And lets be honest now, Rondo has proven to be one of the best pointgaurds in the league, hes not just some "short, skinny guy".
