Larry Bird: "To bring Rick Robey back so I can get my rebounding average back up there."
Scott Wedman: "Not to pick on Larry so much."
M.L. Carr: "To become one year closer to becoming the oldest guy in the league."
Cedric Maxwell: "I used to want a job like M.L. But then I thought about salary. Now I want a job like Scott's."
Gerald Henderson: "Don't have one." ("Don't let him fool you," said Carr. "Gerry wants a big free agent contract.")
Danny Ainge: "To keep my hands in a fist every time there's a brawl on the court."
Greg Kite: "To hit a three-pointer to win the series against Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference final."
Carlos Clark: "To better myself."
Kevin McHale: "To make '84 better than '83, that's all."
Quinn Buckner: "To be more productive, to try to get 400 productive minutes a day."
K.C. Jones: "To win 20 games in a row."
Chris Ford: "To lose weight and get in shape."
Ray Melchiorre: "To lose weight by the time we go into the final round of the playoffs."
MISC
McHale had his second straight no-show performance. After scoring only seven against Houston, he was held to five on two-of-eight shooting and never got off the pine during crunch time. He made only five of 17 shots in Houston and Dallas . . . Robert Parish has been the Celtics' leading rebounder in the last five games and had nine offensive caroms against Houston . . . Ainge has scored a total of 13 points while not playing more than 20 minutes in any of the last five games. He was scoreless in five minutes against Houston and had two points in 13 minutes last night.
