I'd call this deal something to seriously ponder.

Questions:

Do we move pierce to the 2 and start jamison at the 3?

At some point, would jamison start in place of kg when it comes time to shut kg down for an extended period (just sayin')?

Where does butler fit in with marquis, tony allen, and eddie house?

Would Danny make yet another move after this one?

I may quit posting new stuff and just go with with as my discussion forum until 2/18 comes to pass. Looks like Danny's gonna give us plenty to talk about since it's only 2/12!!!!

The first question would seem to be, what chance to you give the Cs to win it all as presently constituted?

My answer is 12-15 percent.

The second question is whether your answer to the first question changes by this trade?

My answer?

No.

Still talk out there about Sheed going to the Cats. This is most interesting. Sheed may have killed this team personality wise. Plus, Jamison, KG, and Sheed might be overkill/redundant.

Two deals??????????????????

Regarding Ainge's denial of the trade rumor:

When has a GM ever admitted to ongoing discussions about trading a current player, at least when the player wants to stay and hasn't demanded a trade????????!!!!!!!!!!!

Another interesting take is that this rumor bids up the price of ray allen.

You want ray allen, you better act now and you better offer something good.

Maybe a celtics official is leaking this rumor for that reason?

Cavaliers 115, Magic 106

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

LeBron James had 32 points and 13 assists as Cleveland matched its franchise record by winning its 13th straight game with a victory over visiting Orlando in a rematch of last season's Eastern Conference finals.

The teams are on top of the East again this year, but Cleveland has won both head-to-head meetings. James scored 7 points in the final three minutes.

++++++++++++++++++++

Can Mike Brown and LeBron actually get 'er done this year?

Jamison and Mike Miller.

Now that sounds like something danny might do.

He loves mike miller.

Celtics do have interest in Butler
Posted by Steve Bulpett at 5:18 pm

DALLAS — Despite larger rumors and subsequent denials earlier today by the Celtics, sources confirmed to the Herald moments ago that the club is still very much in the process of seeing what it would take to acquire Caron Butler from Washington.

The sides have not yet gotten to the point of bargaining back and forth, but it is fully expected they will have more substantive discussions as next Thursday’s trade deadline approaches.

It was reported that Ray Allen, J.R. Giddens and Brian Scalabrine could be going to the Wizards for Butler and Antawn Jamison, but according to one source, the Celts are not as interested in Jamison at the present time.

It is also important to note that, as we sit here late on a Friday afternoon, the situation remains fluid. Every team is examining proposals that could affect this and other potential trades.

Today - 8:50 PM ET

The Wizards and Mavericks sound very close to pulling off a trade, with the principle figures being Caron Butler and Josh Howard.

Other players possibly included in the deal are Washington's Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson, and Dallas' Drew Gooden and Tim Thomas. Additionally, Antawn Jamison could possibly be going to the Celtics. Any deal won't likely be finalized until Monday, but it does sound like Butler and Howard are very likely to change teams. The bottom line is that Howard's value likely goes up in Washington, while Butler's would take a hit in Dallas.

i would still be majorly sad to see ray go, do you think there is the possibility that ainge would send him away for the sixths months and re sign him as a free agent at the end of the season.

ray has already said he would take a big pay cut after this year,

maybe thats what danny's meeting was about with ray?

Lex said...

That's a possibility.

I'm not sure Ray would return for less.

It will be interesting to see what Danny is offered in return.

My bet is that ray isn't dealt.

“My health, it’s great, I’m happy to be here,’’ Garnett said. “I’m playing in the game. I’m not sitting up here and making this weekend about my leg and my health.

It sure doesn't look like his health is great.

This is how it goes. I break a story on the Celtics, Danny denies it and then everybody finds out it’s accurate. It’s also been confirmed by some other people out there. The story’s 100 percent accurate. They’ve talked. Danny’s thing was you can go back and perhaps talk to ownership or bring it to them, or that’s just what he said. But they’ve talked, names have been exchanged and it’s exactly how I portrayed it. I didn’t say it was imminent. I didn’t say it was about to happen. It’s exactly what happens this time of year, which is a trade discussion. Last week or 10 days ago when I said they’re shopping Ray Allen, and they said, ‘No, we’re not.’ Well, guess what? They’re shopping Ray Allen. This idea that they’re taking calls on Ray, it’s not accurate. Every GM in the league will tell you, they’re actively looking."

Like I said, No GM would openly admit he's actively in talks with another team about a specific player who is loved and wants to stay put.

Lex said...

Ainge added, "All speculation. It's only a month ago (that the team was performing well). We need to play better and I think we can."

The 23-5 start ended on 12/25 or six weeks ago.

A bad ainge trade will make him look like McHale, desperately flailing as the ship starts to sink

The Plain Dealer is reporting the Cleveland Cavaliers are in negotiations to acquire Suns All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire. Citing multiple league sources, the report confirms a meeting between Cavs general manager Danny Ferry and Suns GM Steve Kerr Friday afternoon in Dallas. According to the paper, sources indicated the Cavs and Suns have been discussing a deal involving the five-time All-Star for nearly a month.

I'll always be a celtics fan. But the Cavs really need to win it if the celts don't. The Cavs f'd it up last year. They can't let the fakers win it again.
