The much discussed Celtics' quest for a front-line guard ended this morning when veteran Nate (Tiny) Archibald signed a one-year contract with the team.
The 32-year old playmaker had been seeking a multiyear contract, but his representative, Irwin Weiner, finally decided to accept a one-year deal for somewhat higher money than the Celtics had originally been offering. Archibald will thus be a free agent at the end of the 1980-81 season.
A seven-year contract Archibald had signed with the Kansas City Kings expired at the end of last season, making Archibald a free agent. But he was unable to find a team desiring his services - other than Boston - and in the end a mutual need was satisfied.
