Bird: It's Not How You Play the Game; It's Whether You Win or Lose

You start to understand the special relationship Bird must have had with Red.

Nothing politically correct about Larry. He tells it like he sees it. When Red said that if he could start a team with one player, it would be Larry, you knew they had a special bond. 2 guys who hated to lose.

When Perk talks he reminds me a lot of Larry. Always says what he thinks and doesn't care about what you think.

I forgot he said that.

Interesting choice over the 11 time champ.

I talked to perk once.

Told him if he hanged in there another 10 years, the Cs would have no choice but to raise his number to the rafter.

His response?

Yeah, right.

LOL! Sounds like him. :)

I think he makes a good case for MVP. They would have won in 2010 if Perk didn't go down. When he was traded they went down hill and haven't been able to replace him since.

On the other hand, as soon as he got to OKC, they started winning and have been a force ever since. Sounds like an MVP to me.

Yeah, that was an interesting choice for Red. But then again, Russ was the missing piece to a team already in place and if you had an all star starting 5, he was the piece that put them over the top.

If you had to start with just one player, Larry made everyone on the court with him better and he could do everything. Put Larry out there with 5 average players and they would win. Not so sure you could do that with Russ.
