The Chief's HOF Speech (featuring, once again, Mr. Bill Walton)
Robert Parish is introduced by Bill Walton.
I see a theme.
Last night we saw that Kevin McHale's HOF speech was, at times, a conversation with Bill Walton.
Here the Chief chooses Mountain Man to introduce him.
You'll see tomorrow night that Larry Bird asked three people to join him on the stage.
Bet you can't guess the name of one of them.
Yup.
William Theodore "Bill" Walton, III.
No one has ever said anything to me.
But most of you must have wondered.
What is it with Lex and Bill Walton?
I'll get around to writing that piece some day.
In the meantime, I find it interesting that for a guy who basically played just one full season for the Green, Bill Walton became close enough with the 1986 championship team's three best players, three men who didn't always get along among themselves, to be a common strand linking their Hall of Fame ceremonies.
Mountain Man.
Everyone loves him.

Sometimes you just get attached to a player. I've been a fan for all these years and never had an attachment to one player like I have to Perk. Just no explaining it, but he just touched something in my heart and I fell for the big guy! I think it might have something to do with his honesty and work ethic.
In the books I read, everyone who played with Big Bill express a love for him. Looking forward to your Walton piece. You are right, everybody loves Bill. I'm enjoying these speeches.
