And the award for Wolves MVP goes to . . .

Ray Richardson rrichardson@pioneerpress.com

Most valuable player: Kevin Love. The Timberwolves would not be a .500 team without him. Love has been a consistent scorer and rebounder. One of his key talents is offensive rebounding, cleaning up missed shots by teammates. Love averages 4.1 offensive rebounds per game, second in the NBA behind Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins (4.5).

Most disappointing player: Darko Milicic.

Most disappointing player: Darko Milicic, no question. Was supposed to be the starting center, with Pekovic hoping for playing time. The roles have reversed. Milicic is not living up to the four-year, $20 million deal he signed in 2010.

Meanwhile, Dooling informed the Celtics of his plans to retire and the club is now left without a primary backup point guard to Rajon Rondo.

Former THUNDER PG, Derek Fisher would fill the need for veteran leadership, a Rondo Binkie and a back up point.

:)

binkie as in pacifier?

FLCeltsFan said...

Yep :) Rondo is very excitable and just as a binkie can quiet and calm a baby, Dooling had a calming effect on Rondo. Fisher could do that too.

ah hah.

Yeah, I can see it, I guess.

He seems to be a doc kind of player

O.K. read through your Darko posts. Were you unable to find one reporting his demise or eating babies? Tell us how you really feel.

You and FLC seem truly disgusted by this signing. Seems like just yesterday that I was commenting about how no good centers were going to be available and Darko probably was as good as you would find at midseason--oh wait it WAS yesterday. I asked who you had in mind that was a better option. Still wondering.

I'm not really disgusted with the signing. I'm just not expecting a whole lot from him. He's been in the league 9 years and hasn't shown much mostly because of his own attitude. Maybe he's matured and will be open to learning from KG. If he is I think he could help the team and maybe become a decent center. He's not awful. He's just underperformed his whole career so far.

And I don't know of anyone else out there now any better.

Lex,
My Summer Quandries post for tomorrow should have been dedicated to you and FLC ;>)

I'm wondering if it bears resemblance to the post I'm working on now looking at the positives in the Darko signing.

Hey, he's tall, and he has some talent. I'm just being realistic, and setting the bar low.

More importantly, I'm having fun.

After all, this is Darko Milicic we're talking about!

I'm all for him exceeding expectations!!!
