Y'all had enough with positionless small ball yet? Not me. I think we need to stick with it. We can either take our lumps trying to play Jason Collins and Darko Milicic at the 5 or take our lumps playing Jason Terry, Leandro Barbosa, Courtney Lee, Rajon Rondo, and eventually Avery Bradley at multiple positions, many of them at the same time, even though, none of them, except for maybe Lee, rises to the height of 6-5. These guys are simply too talented to sit on the bench while we wait and see what numbers #98 and #99 might do next, good or bad.
What do these five guards have to do with the center position? Well, if you're gonna play three short guys because of their talent, then why hold back that same unit by making them play with a stiff? Wouldn't you rather see what they can do with some combination of Brandon Bass, Jared Sullinger, or Jeff Green on the floor? I'm not saying this is a slam dunk. But I do think we need to continue the experiment for another 20-25 games.
Look at the above roster. They won a title, and they won it in a league that was just about as height-challenged as it is today. By the way, Dave Cowens was 6-8, not 6-9.
