Dave Meyers was a player on the UCLA Bruins men's basketball teams that won the 1973 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament and 1975 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. He appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1975.[2]

Meyers was the second pick in the first round of the 1975 NBA Draft. He was part of one of the biggest sports trades in NBA history. Meyers, along with Elmore Smith, Junior Bridgeman, and Brian Winters, were traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Walt Wesley. Meyers played for the Bucks for four seasons. On April 30th, 1980 Meyers made a surprise announcement that he was retiring from basketball to spend more time with his family and Jehovah's Witness faith.[3]
