The number of times u2 has referenced, recorded, or otherwise paid tribute to those famous Liverpudlians is legion (Helter Skelter, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Blackbird, Sgt. Pepper, Rain, My Sweet Lord, etc). Coldplay, thought by some as U2-lite, may be heading down the same path.
