It’s the Brooklyn picks that should interest the Timberwolves most. Though Mikhail Prokhorov has shown he’ll spend even unreasonable amounts of luxury tax penalties to ensure his team is competitive, the Nets’ future is still murky at best. Declining stars Deron Williams and Joe Johnson are locked into max-level contracts through 2016, and Brook Lopez has a player option for that season, too. Other than Mason Plumlee, Brooklyn has no young players it can count on as a future cog, either. Basically, it wouldn’t shock if the picks that the Nets owe Boston in 2016 and 2018 are in the lottery, and perhaps even its top-half.
On the other hand, part of trading for Love is an assurance that he’ll re-sign with his new team long-term. While some teams like the Sacramento Kings might be willing to acquire him without such security, it’s unlikely that Danny Ainge and the Celtics feel the same way. Fortunately for them, Love appears interested in Boston, having recently taken in a Red Sox game at Fenway Park with Rondo.

Love is not in the same conversation as KG defensively.
I like the idea of building through the draft the way San Antonio did originally and the way the Thunder have. Sure they got lucky with Duncan, but the Celtics could get lucky with one of these young guys as well. Put together a young core of players and keep them together and they will mesh together and will make it back to being contenders.
But, I have a feeling that Danny is going to go after Love and try to do what he did in 2008 with a different cast. That would put the Celtics back into contention but for how long? And will that be enough to beat the Heat in the East or OKC or Spurs or Clippers or any of the top west teams? I just don't know.
Those Nets picks will likely be in the lottery. They just missed being in the lottery this season. And if the Celtics get Gordon or Vonleh and pick up a couple more pieces, I think they could be pretty good. At least they will be fun to watch.
One thing about bringing in established stars, they don't always mesh with the other players and they don't always mesh with the coach's system. That's happened many times. Knicks with Melo, that Lakers team with Shaq, Malone et all, The Rockets when they brought Barkley in etc.
I think I'd rather bring young players up in the system to bond together and become a unit like the Spurs did. But, that's just me.

But those are numbers on a bad team where he's depended on to do a lot of heavy lifting.
Yes, his numbers are impressive, but the few times I've watched him I haven't been wowed by his defense.
His defense blows. And of course he's not 6 foot 13. :)
