Jack Ramsay Says '83 C's Better than Moses, Philly

Portland coach Jack Ramsay doesn't straddle the fence when asked to compare the superpowers in the NBA East. "I think the Celtics have the best team in the East, despite Moses Malone," says Ramsay. "Philly has a very good team, but I think the Celtics are a great team, maybe the best overall in the league. Boston just has more depth."

Ramsay said his Blazers were able to slow down Philadelphia's running game in Tuesday's 106-103 upset of the Sixers. Dave Twardzik, a member of Portland's 1977 championship team, now a commentator for the Blazers' radio network, said: "The Sixers looked like they were waiting to turn it on and never could."

The Blazers saw their four-game winning streak snapped last night, but have won seven of nine. They play in Detroit tomorrow night and in Washington Saturday. Portland's win over Philly is its only victory against a team with a winning record.
