That reminds me, in the “Greatest Teams” chapter, I wrote that no modern team could crack the top-10 all-time because of the restrictions of today’s salary cap and luxury tax. I was wrong. The 2009-10 Lakers are going to be historically great. Nobody is going to touch them this season. I have already made room in the paperback for them. This is not a reverse jinx.

Well, whaddya say, now, Billy Boy, 80 regular season games later?
Phhf.
What a joke.
Even if the purple somehow manage to get out of the first round, second round, WCFs, and into the NBA Finals, ain't now way, no how they're gonna beat Bron Bron. Not this year. But let's be honest. El Fakoes won't get that far. You'll have to trust me on that one for now.
When the Fakers Flop, we can compare them to another time a La La Land based group of hoopsters was deemed an historically great and untouchable team, and see that the result was largely the same.

Well, gang, 50-50 shot I can't post again until Friday. So in my absence, please carry on about the ill-fated destiny of this year's purple!

The Republican file photoFormer UMass forward Tony Gaffney, left, shown against Saint Joseph's in a 2008 game, was signed by the Boston Celtics Tuesday.
Tony Gaffney has yet to play an NBA game, but the former University of Massachusetts basketball forward has already been on both sides of the sport's most storied rivalry.
Gaffney signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Celtics Tuesday. He was not with the team in Chicago, where the Celtics played the Bulls, but is expected to join the club Wednesday night.
Signing the 6-foot-8 Gaffney is designed largely so that he can play on Boston's team in the Orlando Summer League.
Gaffney was undrafted out of UMass in 2009, but played for the summer team of the Los Angeles Lakers - Boston's historic rival - in Las Vegas.
He was invited to the Lakers' fall camp, and made it to the final cut before being dropped.
