Bill Simmons: The 2009-10 Los Angeles Lakers will be Historically Great
That reminds me, in the “Greatest Teams” chapter, I wrote that no modern team could crack the top-10 all-time because of the restrictions of today’s salary cap and luxury tax. I was wrong. The 2009-10 Lakers are going to be historically great. Nobody is going to touch them this season. I have already made room in the paperback for them. This is not a reverse jinx.

What a joke.
Even if the purple somehow manage to get out of the first round, second round, WCFs, and into the NBA Finals, ain't now way, no how they're gonna beat Bron Bron. Not this year. But let's be honest. El Fakoes won't get that far. You'll have to trust me on that one for now.
When the Fakers Flop, we can compare them to another time a La La Land based group of hoopsters was deemed an historically great and untouchable team, and see that the result was largely the same.

Kobe Didn't Do a Good Job on Defense?
There would be no game winner this time around, however, as the Lakers' lost 114-111 in overtime Thursday to Miami. Though Bryant's shooting stroke is back, his lack of discipline on D largely led Quentin Richardson scoring a team-high 25 points on eight of 13 shooting.

The Times critical of Kobe?
Whoa!
And with Quentin Richardson making 7 threes all on his own, the Lakers just never found a way to find this guy behind the line. Kobe didn’t do a great job on defense tonight.

I didn't realize that Lakers writers had taken a break from the Kool-Aid! And here I thought the rest of us were supposed to believe that Kobe played lock down defense 82-games a year and was an automatic for first-team all-defense every year.

The Bynum Beatdown
Assessed a technical for an intense glare? Give me a break. They ought to have assessed Bynum a technical for his poor defense and overall lackluster play. Come to think of it, they ought to assess Andrew Bynum a technical every time someone asks if he's gonna be the next Shaq or compares him to any other big man in Lakers history besides Swen Nater. The Lakers reign as champions is only a month old and its already more than I can take.
