The Beast Cleans Up

Thirty-three minutes, 10 points, 20 rebounds, two blocks, and only four personal fouls.

On a night when KG did just about everything else, Kendrick Perkins cleaned up the glass and cleaned out the paint. If his last three games aren't proof that a break-out is underway for the 23-year-old, then he is certainly on knocking at the door that takes players to the next level.

It's one thing to put up these numbers in meaningless games against lesser competition, but the Beast did it against one of the league's elite teams and in a game both teams were ready to play.

Nor should we underestimate the fact that he kept himself in the game without getting into foul trouble, thereby maximizing his impact and ensuring his presence was felt.

If the Beast can even play three-quarters this well for the rest of the season and into the playoffs, a KG-Perk pivot combination will be imposing to say the least, and could be down right dominant if number 43 continues to improve.

I hope Wyc has placed that call to the local banner factory.

It may be time to dust off the equipment and turn on the electricity in that old, dilapidated building.

The 22-year drought may finally be coming to an end.
