A Sense of Proportion

I woke up this morning and flicked on ESPN.

First I watched Sports Center, then ESPN News, and finally Mike and Mike.

The top three sports stories never changed.

They were, to wit:

1. LeBron scores 50.

2. Rockets win 16th in a row.

3. Cs beat Motown.

What ESPN failed to emphasize, of course, was that LeBron's 50 came against the Knicks. That's right, the Knicks. We're talking about Isiah Thomas' New York Knicks (insert your own punchline here. My punchline would adapt Allen Iverson's practice rant to these circumstances, replacing "practice" with "Knicks").

As for the Rockets, they still might not make the playoffs. They're only four games ahead of the ninth seed.

Celtics-Pistons?

Only the teams with the two best records in the NBA jockeying for home-court advantage in the playoffs and fighting for every psychological edge they can get.

Oh hum.

Please don't wake me again for such mundane stuff.
