The 1988 West Coast Trip Looms
2/7/88
The Celtics could win the Eastern Conference again, but in order to do so, they must have a decent West Coast trip. Atlanta and Detroit have been smacked around out there. It's just a damn tough trip.
This is a better team than last year's. There is no question that waiting and hoping for Bill Walton damaged last year's team psyche. Mark Acres and Artis Gilmore are an improvement over last season's backup pivot situation. The big revelation is Dirk Minniefield. The team must commit itself to running with him when he's on the floor. If the Celtics don't, they deserve what they get, and it won't be good.
Let's talk after the road trip.
