26-2

With two more consecutive wins, the NBA’s defending champs will match the best start in league history previously set by three other teams.

As most of you know, the all-time best start is actually 26-2, held by the 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers and the 1969-70 New York Knicks. The Celtics would need to win the next five games to tie that mark and the next six to surpass it.

That's a slightly higher hurdle than needing two more consecutive wins.

Were the C's to win six more in a row, not only would they set the league mark for best start to a season, they would also break the franchise record for longest winning streak. The 1981-82 Boston Celtics won 18 in a row.
