OKC

A few posts ago I expressed some dismay at the fact that the Lakers not only defeated the Celtics, but did so without using a player like Vladimir Radmanovich. In theory, I said, the Lakers could now spend the next couple of months evaluating their team needs with an asset they could dangle to fill any perceived gaps on the roster.

However, not all teams would be interested in an expensive veteran who specializes in three-point shooting and little else. Franchises in the thick of rebuilding their teams would seemingly have little interest in such a player, unless they could also acquire two or more youngsters with some potential. The OKC Thunder come to mind, as do other teams of their ilk.

In the above post, I listed seven Celtics players, at least four of which--Glen Davis, JR Giddens, Bill Walker, and Gabe Pruitt--who would generate some interest among rebuilding teams and who would come at a cheap price. If those franchises had a vet the Celtics wanted, then add Scalabrine to the transaction to make the deal work out.

I'm not suggesting dealing them all. But what I am saying is that the Celtics have lots-0-surplusage, redundancy, and unused parts, while at the same time sporting a roster with identifiable needs.

Let's kill two birds with one stone.

Any team can beat any team on any given night no matter who they play. Last few games prove it.
