Perk's Patience

A couple of weeks ago, Kevin Garnett was asked if thought Kendrick Perkins had improved offensively. Yes, Garnett said, he's more patient now than when I first got here.

We saw that patience manifest itself last night at the 4:16 marker of the fourth quarter. Receiving a pass from KG in the paint, Perkins had the ball with nothing separating him from the basket, which now stood just above his ahead.

Josh Smith stood behind him.

Would Perkins rush the shot, like he has on countless occasions, as recently as the game against the Hornets, when the smaller David West was swatting his shots away?

Nope.

Perkins paused, then moved his head and shoulders, ever so slightly. Taking notice that Smith was buying the fake, Perk gave him the real upfake, getting Smith in the air, drawing the foul, and converting the basket and free throw.

That's what Kevin Garnett was talking about. If Perkins can master that skill, there's no reason why he can't average ten to twelve points per game, and regularly get opposing bigs in foul trouble.

Perk has improved his game a lot inspite of not being able to work out this summer. That was a great move on offense. But, his best move of the night was that BIG block on Johnson at the end of the game. And he has been doing a good job of keeping his emotions under control lately too. I love Perk.

BIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGG block on JJ!!

I think that jury consultant is helping out with perk's emotions and facial expressions.

I love Perk his post-game comments cracked me up. He's been so impressive and getting better as the season goes along and its great to see him on the court at the end of close games showing some clutch D.

It's great to see Perk finally getting some love. I remember back when we first drafted him posting articles about how I loved his attitude and work ethic and saying that he would be a top center one day and getting a lot of comments about how he would never be more than a good back up. I loved Perk from day 1 and love him even more now.

Hey FCF,

I keep in contact with a couple of guys from the old Globe message board.

One of them doesn't like Perk.

Oddly, he's been very quiet over the last 12 months!
